QUALITATIVE METHODOLOGY. ARTFUL INQUIRY. PEDAGOGY.
I am the inaugural Director for Diversity Initiatives and Faculty Development in the College of Education at The University of Alabama where I also serve as Associate Professor of Qualitative Research in the Department of Educational Studies in Psychology, Research Methods, and Counseling. Since 2015, I have also served as Co-Coordinator of the Qualitative Research Certificate Program. This program serves students from across the university by immersing them in a program of study intended to deepen their knowledge and practice of qualitative inquiry.
A graduate of The University of Georgia, I completed my doctoral degree in May 2014 with a focus in Art/Art Education while also earning an Interdisciplinary Qualitative Research Certificate. Prior to this time, I worked in Georgia's Gwinnett County Public Schools as a high school visual arts educator. My experiences in the arts have uniquely informed and inspired my research and teaching practices, drawing me toward topics such as STEAM education, artful pedagogies, and artful inquiry practices.
